I know that stepping in front of the camera can feel a little nerve-wracking, especially if you’re worried about your kids misbehaving or wondering how to pose. But don’t worry—I’ve got you!
Here’s my approach: I want you to relax, be yourself, and enjoy the moment. The best photos happen when you aren’t forcing anything! So, let’s dive into some tips to help you feel at ease and make the most of your session.
Let Kids Be Kids
Parents, take a deep breath—you don’t have to stress about your little ones standing still and smiling perfectly. In fact, I prefer they don’t! Some of the most heartfelt, joy-filled images come from children running, laughing, and being their natural selves. If they need a break, we take one. If they want to explore, we roll with it. The more fun they have, the more genuine the photos will be!

One of my favorite ways to create beautiful, connected images is to encourage closeness. Whether it’s snuggling up with your child, wrapping your arms around your partner, or just leaning in a little tighter, this small adjustment makes a big difference in capturing warmth and love. So, don’t be surprised when you hear me gently direct you to “get closer” throughout our session!
Embrace The Candid Moments
While we’ll get some classic shots, I also love capturing those unposed, in-between moments—the ones where you’re laughing at an inside joke, holding hands without thinking about it, or comforting your little one. These are the photos that will bring back the feelings of the day, not just the way you looked.
What To Wear?
Keep It Simple and Comfortable
The key to looking and feeling great is wearing something that makes you comfortable and confident. A few tips:
• Choose neutral or soft tones that complement each other without being too matchy-matchy.
• Avoid busy patterns or logos that can distract from your faces.
• Layers and textures photograph beautifully.
• Most importantly, wear something that feels like you!
Relax and Trust The Process
I know it’s easy to feel self-conscious when a camera is pointed at you, but remember: You don’t have to perform. You don’t have to be perfect. Just be present. I’ll guide you through natural movements, gentle prompts, and small interactions that bring out your true self. My job is to help you feel comfortable, and your only job is to enjoy the moment!
Get Plenty of Rest and Hydration
This one might sound simple, but it makes a big difference! A good night’s sleep and staying hydrated can help you feel and look your best. If little ones are involved, bringing along snacks and water can help keep everyone happy.

Your session should be a joyful experience, not a stressful one. Play with your kids, whisper something silly to your partner, move around—let’s make this feel like a natural, happy time instead of something staged. When you’re having fun, it shows in your photos!
